Just a quick note to welcome you all back to a new season and also welcome to our new members who are sampling the delights of Rugby at Aldermaston for the very first time. Behind the scenes, we have been very busy during the summer months , with the coaching staff running very popular Wednesday night sessions, attending RFU Coaching courses and preparing for the new season. The Wednesday night sessions will continue for some of the older age groups throughout the year, so speak to your coach for details.
We have a full programme of fixtures for all age groups , they are available on the website and in your Red handbooks , which are ready for collection this weekend ( to paid-up members only) in the clubhouse. Whilst in the clubhouse , why not pick up your raffle tickets for the Grand Draw ,in aid of the Under 14 & 15 Tour to the West Country. Priced at £5.00 each , you can win a pair of London Irish season tickets , a pair of Vodaphone mobiles or a bin full of beer(one for the oldies). The draw will be made on Saturday 26th September following the Senior Club’s Vice Presidents lunch. On Sunday 11th October , we will be holding our first “Bring a Friend to Rugby Day”. We want all players to bring along at least one friend for the Sunday morning session and introduce them to the Aldermaston Rugby Club. There is no obligation , but we would like the opportunity to see as many new faces as possible. Participants will each receive a small reward for their efforts. There will be flyers to hand out , again please see the website or your Coach. As some of you will know already , the our supplier of match shirts has discontinued our current design. We are restocking with a very similar design (and price) , but these will take 3-4 weeks to come in. Apologies for the delay , but we have had to go to a different supplier and it take’s time to set this up. Playing shirts for matches in all age groups is available from our Coaches. Richie Evans sells other items of kit every Sunday morning in the Clubhouse between 10.30 and 11.45. Finally , thanks to those of you who have volunteered to help Denise out in the kitchen on Sunday mornings, we still need more willing hands , so please help us , to help you. We also require some help on the publicity front. If you have any skills in this area , or would like to have a go , please let me know. David McAteer Chairman |
