Aldermaston RFCs local radio station 2-TEN FM played Santa
this Sunday (17th December) as they presented Aldermaston
Rugby Club with some brand new youth rugby equipment at
their annual Christmas Party. London Irish Mascot Digger was
also on hand to help 2 TEN FM congratulate the club and
award them with their brand new training gear. |

Aldermaston Rugby Club are just one of the recipients of the
2-TEN FM Kids general grants scheme. They have been awarded
a grant of £428 to purchase some much-needed specialist
equipment for their youth rugby team. The grant was used to
purchase new junior size tackle bags and contact shields. |

Emma Saunders, Charity Manager for 2-TEN FM Kids, said: 'We
have been fundraising hard throughout the year to enable us
to support a number of children's groups across Berkshire
and North Hampshire. Aldermaston Rugby Club are just one of
our lucky recipients and we are thrilled to be able to help
them in this way ' we know this equipment is going to make a
huge difference to the coaching of their youth team.' |

Jason Burke, Aldermaston RFC Youth Section Chairman was
thrilled with the grant and was delighted that The Black
Thunders and Digger could both officially present the
equipment to the club. He said 'Everyone here at the club
would like to say a huge thank you to 2-TEN FM, its great to
see business’s investing in the local community and in
particular into junior sports. Having the new training
equipment will help us enormously. I'd also like to thank
London Irish for letting Digger out for the morning!' |

With over 160 registered
boys and girls enjoying rugby at Aldermaston RFC, we rely on
the generosity of local companies to help fund kit
purchases. Without the likes the likes of 2-TEN FM we would
find it very difficult to purchase the necessary equipment.
Its great to see companies investing in the local community,
in particular into youth sports |

We also enjoy a very close relationship with our local
premiership rugby side ' London Irish' which really means a
lot to the club, and to all our kids. Straight after
Christmas our U14s and U12's will both be enjoying a
training session with London Irish, before watching the
exiles take on the mighty Toulouse in the Heineken Cup. We
are always looking for new recruits for Aldermastons
RFC juniors, so if you fancy giving rugby a TRY, come up to
the AWE Rec Soc on Sunday morning at 10.30am and give a go!!
Boys and Girls most very welcome!! |
