As you know, the day
after the annual dinner dance myself and Jenny had
committed to take part in the Ridgeway 40 event (some
said we should have been committed) . This gruelling
long distance walking event is one of longest distance
walking events around and a tough challenge for anyone.
This year we decided that if we were going to do the
event, then we would make sure that Aldermaston youth
academy benefited at the same time.
I'm happy to say we
both completed the 40 torturous miles in 11 hours and 36
minutes, and thanks to the extreme generosity of
everyone at the dinner dance, over £187 was raised.
This money will be
used to bring quality training to the young stars of
Aldermaston, I'm sure you can appreciate the cost of
keeping 8 junior teams on the road is pretty high. Your
kind donations will go a long way to ensuring the future
of Aldermaston RFC youth academy.
