On
the 26th June 2004 Aldermaston Rugby Club held
its 50th Anniversary Ball in a lavish Marquee
sited on the Recreational Society Car Park. The black-tie
event was a great success with over 250 guests treated to a
champagne reception, 4 course meal, presentations and
dancing. The highlight of the evening was the presentation
of club memorabilia to two special guests,
Jack Kirkham and
Gwyn Morgan, founder members of the club in 1954, and the
speech given by Jack describing the club’s inception and
recognising the hard work of many people over the club’s
fifty years experience. Jack and Gwyn were both presented
with memorabilia from the club as a token of our gratitude
for starting the club to which we all belong.
Former Chairman,
Kevin Bambury,
was awarded life membership of the Club in recognition of
over 40 years service and commitment to the Club.
Mark
Ford and
Will Davies were named as Old Farts Player and
Players Player of the Year respectively. These awards were
presented by Jack and Gwyn. A true honour for Mark and Will.
Music
and dancing went on into the 'wee small hours', and the
event was remarked as a huge success by all that attended.
